Snappers capture Bantam Championship ! Hammer Heads not enough in King of the Hill Final
August 30, 2007 Clifton Park, NY (All Wire Services)
Snappers, #1 seed, undefeated, their only blemish...... a tie with, you guessed it............. the Hammer Heads. In their last meeting the Snappers had to come from behind to tie the game.
Who will be king at the Bantam level. Are the Hammer Heads for real? Can the Snappers be beat?
This game will answer all those questions, Game on!
First period, pace is fast and furious, excellent chances by both teams, goalies playing great hockey, not giving an inch. Any goal will have to be earned. Finally with just one minute to go in the first period the Sanppers scored to exit the period with a 1- 0 lead. Nick McKinney with a sneaky shot, assisted by Tyler Lingel & John Doak.
Period #2 opens with the same urgency! at the 13:12 mark, Tyler Lingel with a rip, high blocker - Sanppers 2 - 0. Assist again to John Doak. Three minutes later Nick McKinney scored a great goal, unassisted, off the face off. Snappers 3 - 0. Tyler Lingel followed with a blast from the top of the circle, Joe Naylor with the assist. Tyler Lingel and Brad Willows followed with 2 more Sanpper goals, assist to Greg Stoya. Snappers 6 - 0. Finally Anthony Langevin scored to break the streak. Assists to Alex Cavert & Mike Fitts. Period ends Snappers 6 - Hammer Heads 1.
Period #3 opens with Kyle Sacks scoring with an assist to Brandon Wormley. Could this be "the comeback". Hammer Heads with 2 goals in a row. But no, Tyler Lingels scores again, unassisted, for the Snappers to close out the scoring. Snappers 7, Hammer Heads 2. Congratulations to the Snappers - Bantam King of the Hill Champions.
Thank you to the Hammer Heads for a great season!
