Cortlandt hiring for seasonal rink jobs

CORTLANDT, NY – The City of Cortlandt has announced openings in its recreation department for seasonal work.

The city is looking to hire a skate guard and a rink cashier to work from Nov. 25 to March 15.

The job details are:

Pad position:
$18 per hour

List of duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Provide on-ice and off-ice supervision during ice skating sessions by monitoring the rink and surrounding area to ensure a safe environment
  • Enforce the rules of the establishment on and off the ice for the enjoyment and safety of customers
  • Educate guests on facility rules and policies
  • Patrolling the facility and reporting any issues to on-duty maintenance personnel
  • Assist customers in case of injury
  • Assist customers in case of an emergency in the establishment
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • First aid and certified CPR preferred.

Staff shifts will coincide with rink operating hours. The rink will be open to the public Thursday and Friday from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m. until mid-March. Management will endeavor to provide a fixed schedule for the convenience of the employee.

Ice Rink Cashier:
$18 per hour

List of duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • The cashier will attend software training sessions to gain a working knowledge of the Community Pass software.
  • The cashier’s duties include collecting entrance fees, issuing a ticket or receipt upon payment; ensure guarantees for cash, checks and office equipment.
  • The cashier must count the receipts and prepare the end of day closing sheet. The cashier will also be responsible for locking all cabinets and doors when closing for the night.
  • During rink operating hours, the cashier answers phones and answers questions regarding skating program information, program/event times, and directions to the facility with kindness and courtesy
  • The cashier will ensure effective communication with supervisors regarding customer complaints.
  • The employee understands that the position requires availability, including nights and weekends.
  • Management will endeavor to provide a fixed schedule for the convenience of the employee

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must be available to work during business hours:

  • Thursday – 2:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday – 2:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Saturday – 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Sunday – 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.
