Cowichan Capitals announce 3 additions to coaching staff


With the BC Hockey League season fast approaching, the Cowichan Valley Capitals have announced three new additions to their coaching staff.

Head coach Brian Passmore and assistant Jamie Jackson were joined by skills coach Jason Becker, strength and conditioning coach Connor Logan and goaltending coach Alec Dillon.

Becker is a native of Saskatoon and has coached at many levels including the BCHL, Western Hockey League and Canadian School Hockey League for the past 12 years. He previously played in the Western League from 1991-1995, at the University of Saskatchewan from 1995-2000 and in Europe from 2000-2009. He has also been and continues to be involved in high school programs. performance of Hockey Canada and BC Hockey.

Logan, a product of Victoria, played in the BCHL with the Powell River Kings and Prince George Spruce Kings before attending the University of Windsor and playing hockey there for three years while becoming a certified hockey specialist. strength and conditioning.

A native of Nanaimo, Dillon has played in the BCHL, US Hockey League and WHL and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. After a brief collegiate career with the University of Victoria Vikes, he became assistant coach of that team and is now head coach, while also coaching at Pacific Coast Hockey Academy.

The Caps will open exhibition play Sept. 3 with two games in Port Alberni. They will play preseason games at home on Sept. 6 against Nanaimo, Sept. 9 against Alberni Valley and Sept. 17 against Victoria. All home matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
