Foothills varsity volleyball player wins Class of 2022 salutatorian


Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar with wings like eagles, they will run and not weary, they will walk and not be weary” (NKJV).

Denae Marie Johnson is the daughter of Dr. Paul Johnson and Janelle Johnson. Johnson is a Salutatorian at Foothills Community Christian School for the Class of 2022. She has been attending Foothills since grade one and has participated in a variety of extracurricular activities.

She played on the Foothills varsity volleyball team for three years and served on the student council as historian for one year and treasurer for two years. She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society and is currently a member of the National Honor Society.

She works behind the scenes on the High School Praise team, managing sound and visuals for four years. She is the first student to be enrolled in a four-year video production course and participated in the C-SPAN student camera, a national competition.

In total, she will have completed more than 330 hours of community service during her four years in high school. Outside of school, she is a member of the Great Falls Figure Skating Club and recently received a silver medal at a competition in Cody, Wyoming. She also completed her advanced scuba diving certification.

After graduation, she plans to take a year off to pursue her divemaster certification. After that, she will go to Grand Canyon University for a bachelor’s degree in biology before completing her master’s degree in marine biology. She received $56,400 from the GCU in merit-based scholarships.
