ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (WNDU) – What’s Good Michiana
With schools closed for President’s Day, parents were looking for something fun for the whole family. Many have found what they were looking for at the Garden Ice Arena in St. Joseph.
Although there were a few trips and spills, no one spent any time in the penalty area. Instead, the abundance of smiles and laughter from the young skaters painted a clear picture that everyone was enjoying their time on the ice.
The Garden Ice Arena offers lessons, rentals and even offers a program for toddlers. “We built the rink so we could get more kids into the community to skate, play hockey, figure skate, so it’s a good entry point for those families to give us the opportunity to ‘try the rink,’ AJ said. Glowacki, manager of Garden Ice Arena.
“We want it to be affordable for families that way… You know, we don’t know everyone’s skates, so bumper cars are a great way to get people to the rink who don’t skate . Also, I think when you take people to the rink to get in the bumper cars and they try to skate, they might like it and maybe it’s something they keep doing.
The next public holiday skate at the Garden is for St. Patrick’s Day. This event will take place on Saturday, March 19.
The Garden Ice Arena is located at 1626 W. Glenlord Road in St. Joseph.
