Hockey India back in action, to resume Bhopal tournaments | Bhopal News

BHOPAL: Hockey India will resume tournament activities from Bhopal. The first national sub-junior men’s academy championship and the first national junior men’s academy championship Hockey India are due to be held in Bhopal in October after a seven-month hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hockey India has asked host Madhya Pradesh and participating teams to take strict precautions and maintain all government Covid protocols as well as Hockey India guidelines while hosting the national events.
The season will resume with the 1st Hockey India Men’s Junior Academy National Championship in 2021, set to kick off in the state capital from October 4-13. October 18 to 27.
Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said the state not only produces international athletes, but also hosts prestigious tournaments. “We produced players like Vivek Sagar who were instrumental in helping India win the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Now we are going to host the national tournaments. We are all ready to host successful national championships, ”said Scindia.
“Hockey India has strictly requested its member state units that host these tournaments as well as the participating teams to follow all Covid protocols and ensure a safe environment for the athletes,” said Hockey India President Gyanendro Ningombam.
Officials said the tournament will be held at Dhyan Chand Ground, Link Road no-1.
