The Howell Area Chamber of Commerce has named a well-known community member and leader as the 2022 Fantasy of Lights Parade Grand Marshal.
Longtime Councilman Steve Manor will be honored as this year’s Grand Marshal. The Chamber says the honor recognizes the many years of service Manor has graciously given to better the community of Howell.
Manor is a retired Howell Public Schools teacher. His teaching career spanned over 34 years. He graduated from Western Michigan University in 1963 and began teaching, but it wasn’t until 1966 that he began teaching at Howell. After retiring from teaching in 1998, Manor was elected to city council in 1999.
Since then he has served the Howell community in many ways. He served as Pro-Tem Mayor, served on several boards and committees, and held several volunteer roles. Due to health issues, Manor began to step back from various roles and committees.
Officials say Manor has dedicated countless hours to serving the Howell community. His involvement beyond city and council initiatives includes the Livingston County Diversity Council, Howell Rotary, Countryside Veterinary Dog Park, Parker Skate Park and more.
The Chamber says it is “very happy to honor such an exceptional leader in our community. Steve’s leadership and dedication to Howell is unwavering. It stretched a long way, and it seemed like the perfect way to recognize his efforts.”
The popular Fantasy of Lights Parade and 5K will return to downtown Howell on Friday November 25th.
