Marquette Adventures offers tourists a first-hand experience of the UP

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) — Made up of 16,452 square miles of forests, lakes, dunes and more, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula offers some of the most pristine and untouched land in the entire Midwest.

A Marquette company offers a hands-on experience for tourists rather than just a scenic outing. Currently offering ice fishing excursions, Marquette Adventures has been providing guests with a comfortable experience in rural UP for the past 5 years.

“We are a turnkey guide service, lots of families like to book us and lots of anglers too. We’re set up and ready to go the moment you step onto the ice. Something about the Upper Peninsula is that it’s a beautiful country so we really love going out there and not many people can see that and not many services are operating in the areas we do,” said Mike Koziara, owner of Marquette Adventures. .

Koziara prides himself on his company’s ability to personalize each excursion. I joined him today to catch fish on the lake.

“It’s just not one size fits all, you know? People come to us with their needs and we try to meet them.

After the ice fishing season is over, Koziara says there’s a lot to come.

“In the summer we bring a walleye boat, we have river fishing, waterfall tours, kayak rentals and also guided floating kayak tours,” Koziara said.

Whether it’s a hot summer day or falling below zero, Koziara loves to spend her days outdoors.

“I love being outside every day and being able to share that experience with everyone,” Koziara said.
