The CM made this announcement by distributing ??42.03 crore cash awards to all returning Tokyo medalists from India and others at a congratulatory ceremony at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium here Thursday. It was another honor for Dhyan Chand, who was considered one of the greatest in hockey history, having won three gold medals for India at the Olympics.
“To give sport a boost, the state government has decided to name the sports university offered by the UP in Meerut after Major Dhyan Chand, whose contribution to Indian sports is immense,” he said. declared the CM.
The government had also decided to adopt two sports disciplines, including wrestling for the next 10 years. The government would take care of everything in those two disciplines and its athletes, he said.
Emphasizing on Prime Minister Modi’s vision of ‘Khelo India Khelo’, the CM said that at the request of the Wrestling Federation of India, the state government decided to open an international wrestling academy in the state capital.
Yogi, who met each medalist at the ceremony, also announced an increase in the UP sportsman’s diet money from ??250 to ??375 per day, which is the Sports Authority of India’s diet money plan. He also announced an increase in cash rewards to Uttar Pradesh medal-winning athletes at future international events such as the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championships.
“We also plan to appoint top level medalist athletes (Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games) to official positions, including that of SP deputies, in various ministries,” added the CM.
However, he made no direct promises of specific jobs to any of the UP’s laureates on the dais, but said the government decided to create new job opportunities in the Sports Directorate. of the UP against the vacant posts of regional sports officers, sports officers and deputy sports officers.
The CM also mentioned projects such as the creation of a playground in each village and a gymnasium open at each level of gram panchayat. “It’s a sports and athletic kumbh here today and we should all celebrate this occasion.
