Navidadfest Plans Announced by City of Laredo, Sames Auto Arena

The City of Laredo this week announced plans for its free annual Navidadfest party to be held from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Sames Auto Arena.

Highlights of this year’s event include free ice skating and photos with Santa. However, availability for both events will be limited and they will require tickets which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from 3 p.m. at the Sames Auto Arena box office. There will be tickets available for seven ice skating sessions in total, and there will be 300 tickets for photos with Santa Claus.

Other planned activities include arts and crafts, a mini train ride, snow slide, pet adoptions and a tree lighting countdown. There will be free cookies and hot chocolate available, and there will be live performances from several local student choirs. The Christmas tree lighting will take place at 7 p.m. with Santa Claus, Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz and other guests.

The Pet Adoption Station will be operated by the City of Laredo Department of Animal Care Services and adoption fees will be waived during the event.

For 30-minute ice skating sessions, a written liability waiver must be signed on site by participating adults or by a parent or guardian for participating children. Participants are encouraged to wear warm clothes while on the ice, and there will be no cell phones, drinks or food allowed on the ice. Participants may bring their own skates and free skate rentals will be available, but size availability may be limited.
