Preparations Begin for First Dothan Ice Rink as Prices and Times Finalized | Government and Politics

The green space in Wadlington Park on Foster Street will soon be transformed into an ice rink that residents can enjoy this winter.

Pedestrians walking along Foster Street can now see the start of preparations for Ice & Lights, Dothan’s very first ice rink.

This week, a committee made up of representatives from Dothan City Center, Dothan Recreation Department and Dothan City finalized several details of the upcoming attraction and discussed event opportunities for the city center. .

“We’re really excited to have something fun, family-friendly and affordable downtown,” said Jamie Bienvenu, executive director of the Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Authority. “We’re also excited to have an attraction that will help draw foot traffic to our downtown merchants.

“People can come for dinner, stay for skating, shop, have hot chocolate afterwards – it could become a whole experience for the family.”

The price of the tickets will be $ 10 per person, which includes the cost of the skate rental which will be available on site. The ice rink will open on Friday November 26 and will remain open until January 9. It will be closed on Mondays for maintenance and private parties, but will be open at Christmas and New Years.
