Baby, it’s not really cold outside, but bless. San Diego residents have long understood how to ice skate outdoors in our temperate climates.

The proof, a favorite ephemeral skating rink returns this weekend, while another, at the edge of the beach, opens its doors Monday.

Liberty Station

The neighborhood, filled with restaurants and shops, hosts the Rady children’s ice rink is ready for his first weekend of ice skating this season. Admission to the skating rink, erected near Dewey and Truxton Roads, costs $ 15 for adults and $ 13 for children; the price includes the rental of skates and helmets.

The ice rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, except Thanksgiving and Christmas, until January 9. One more? Profits will be donated to the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Rady.

Coronado Hotel

On the bridge, Ice skating by the sea returns to the Hotel del Coronado at 4 p.m. Monday. The oceanfront ice rink offers views of the Pacific. Ice rink rentals are also available, with fire pits for warming up.

For non-skaters, several attractions at the hotel – Sun terrace, Babcock & Story Bar, Sheerwater and Serẽa – all offer a pleasant view of the ice rink.

Admission costs $ 35. Hours of operation for the ice rink, open until Jan. 2, vary, but this week it’s open Monday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Thanksgiving as well, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The hotel’s ice rink also benefits a Make-A-Wish San Diego charity.

Viejas factory center

In East County, turn to the Viejas factory center at Alpine, where the holiday ice rink will be open until January 2. Also stop at the resort for a holiday water show.

The Viejas ice rink is open every day from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Special holiday hours are in place for Thanksgiving – 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. – and Christmas Eve and Christmas too, but the rink will be open.

Choose a $ 99 season pass or pay $ 20 per session to skate.
