Public skating and shinny (impromptu hockey) are offered at the Komoka Wellness Center and Ilderton Arena.

For everyone’s pleasure! Pucks, hockey sticks or equipment on the ice surface are prohibited.

  • $3.50 per person; $2.50 for 55 and over
  • Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. @ Komoka
    The Komoka Kilworth Optimist Club and Dairy Lane Systems sponsor free public skating at the Komoka Wellness Center every Saturday in January and February!
  • Sunday, 12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. @ Ilderton

Adult and preschool skate

For children aged 6 and under and their companions. Strollers and skates are allowed on the ice. Children must be accompanied by an adult (18 years and over).

  • $3.50 per person; $2.50 for 55 and over
  • Mondays, 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. @ Komoka
  • Mondays, 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. @ Ilderton
    Not available on Family Day, Monday February 21.

Shiny / Hockey

Shinny for adults and preschoolers

Allows parents to teach hockey skills to children 6 and under. No slap shots, wrist shots or any form of aggressive play. Children must be accompanied by an adult (18+)

  • Wednesdays, 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. @ Ilderton
  • Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. @ Komoka

Shinny adult and child

Provides parents with the opportunity to teach hockey skills to children ages 7-10. No slap shots, wrist shots or any form of aggressive play. Children must be accompanied by an adult (18+)

  • $6 per person
  • Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. @ Ilderton
  • Fridays, 4:15 p.m. to 5:05 p.m. @ Komoka

Brilliant adult

Self-organized non-contact hockey for adults aged 18 and over. Full equipment is recommended.

  • $6 per person
  • Wednesdays, 8:15 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. @ Komoka
  • Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. @ Ilderton

55+ Brilliant

Self-organized non-contact hockey for adults 55 and over. Full equipment is recommended.

  • $6 per person
  • Mondays, 8:15 a.m. to 9:35 a.m. @ Komoka
    Not available on Family Day, Monday February 21.
  • Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. @ Ilderton
Discount cards for frequent skaters

Avid skater?

We offer a discounted rate if you pre-purchase a “punched card” for multiple skates.

  • 20 senior skates = $45
  • 20 child or adult skates = $63

Valid for public skating only; not valid for shinny. Rates subject to change.

Free Skating Rules

Please observe the following safety rules for the enjoyment of all skaters.

  • Everyone on the rink must wear a CSA approved helmet.
  • All participants must wear skates when on the ice surface.
  • Those without skates will not be allowed on the ice surface.
  • Chairs, sleds, strollers, pylons and other obstacles are not permitted on the rink.
  • Skate guards should be worn in non-carpeted areas of the entire facility.
  • Food and drink are not permitted on the ice surface.
  • Games such as tag or racing will not be permitted.
  • Refrain from carrying children on the shoulders or in the arms while skating.
  • The use of hockey sticks is not permitted during public skating sessions.
  • Refrain from throwing snow or ice.
  • Skate at a reasonable speed, obey the instructions of arena staff members, and report all accidents or injuries to arena staff members on duty.
  • Reverse skating is not permitted on public skates. The wearing of hockey equipment on the ice is prohibited during public skating.
  • Power skating or figure skating is not permitted during public skating sessions.
  • Wheelchairs are permitted on the ice provided the wheelchair operator is wearing ice skates. Please keep the wheelchair next to the boards away from skater traffic.
