Zach Collaros threw four touchdown passes as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers rebounded the Saskatchewan Roughriders 54-20 in the Banjo Bowl on Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd of 33,234 fans at IG Field. Nic Demski caught two touchdown passes while Rasheed Bailey, Dalton Schoen and Brendon O’Leary-Orange also had majors. Quarterback Dakota Prukop had two short-range touchdowns and backup Dru Brown, who replaced Collaros with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter, also threw a touchdown pass. Marc Liegghio kicked two field goals. Winnipeg has scored on nine of 10 practices. The West Division-leading Blue Bombers (12-1) will face the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton on Saturday, September 17. The two-time defending Gray Cup champions are enjoying their second bye week of the season following the game against the Tiger-Cats.

The Virden Oil Capitals lost a 3-1 decision to the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The Oil Capitals play their final preseason game Monday against the Portage Terriers at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Virden acquired forward Nicholas Guberman in a three-way trade deal with the Neepawa Titans and Weyburn Red Wings. The Oil Capitals sent defenseman Garrett MacDonald and future considerations to the Titans.

Zach Benson had a goal and two assists as the Winnipeg Ice beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1 at RINK Hockey Academy. Evan Friesen and Hayden Moore also scored for the ice. Matthew Henry scored the Wheat Kings’ lone goal. Brandon will end his exhibition schedule with a home and away game with the Moose Jaw Warriors while the Ice will play two games with the Regina Pats.

The Winnipeg Goldeneyes’ season is over. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored three runs in the first inning and three more in the seventh en route to a 7-3 win over the Fish in Game 3 of their AFC West Semifinals at Newman Outdoor Field. Third baseman Ian Sagdal hit a two-run homer for the Goldeyes. The RedHawks will face the Kansas City Monarchs in the Western Division Finals while the Milwaukee Milkmen will face the Cleburne Railroaders in the Eastern Division Finals.
