Parker Bell of the Tri-City Americans increased his score dramatically and the NHL took notice.
The Am striker caught in the 5th round by Calgary
On Friday, the Tri-City Americans announced the third-year forward was selected in the 5th round of the 2022 NHL Draft by the Calgary Flames.
Bell, who started his career with the Am’s in 2019, had 18 goals and 31 assists in the 2021-22 season after scoring just 7 points (1 goal and 6 assists) the previous two. He became an attacking leader for the fledgling Ams team.
Bell, who is 6’4″ 200lbs, has the size and speed that many NHL teams are looking for on offense. He hails from Campbell River, B.C., and is what the league calls a player born late in 2003.
Bell was drafted the first year he was eligible to be selected by an NHL team. He will join former American defenseman Juuso Valimaki, also drafted by the Flames in 2017.
Bell was the only American drafted in all 7 rounds of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
