Telford & Wrekin Council are delighted to have entered into a multi-year contract with Telford Tigers Limited which will see the Tigers ice hockey teams continue to use the Telford rink as a base for training and home games.
Telford Tigers are a club with two teams playing in the National Ice Hockey League and the North Laidler League respectively, over the past 30 years the Telford Tigers have developed a reputation for tough but fair games against some of the greatest British Ice Hockey names. Telford has an enviable history of producing high quality ice hockey players, many of whom begin their careers in their learn-to-play programs.
In 2021/22 Telford Tigers have won their two respective league titles, the first in the clubs’ long history and each season the Tigers provide plenty of opportunities for local residents of the borough to bond and follow the team throughout their ice hockey season. With a dedication to developing and promoting local talent, the Tigers have become one of the most successful teams in national sport in our borough.
Councilor Kelly Middleton (Labour), Cabinet Member for Leisure, Public Health and Wellbeing, Equalities and Partnerships, commented
“We have established a great relationship with the Telford Tigers and we look forward to continuing this partnership over the next two years. We have a fantastic facility here in Telford with the ice rink and we know that Telford Tigers games attract both locals and visitors from across the region to come and see them play with dedicated fans who come out to support their team every week. . The matches provide a high adrenaline sporting arena for fans to enjoy.

“Over the past few years, the relationship between the club and the Board has grown stronger and the two organizations actively support and support each other whenever they can. We have a shared vision for the future of our sport within the borough and beyond, which is based on both stability and growth. This multi-year contract further strengthens this relationship. The rink is our home, and we are proud to call it home, we have exciting plans for the next few years, and we look forward to continuing our journey together.
Telford & Wrekin Council Ice Rink will also be sponsoring Man of the Match awards for the next two seasons as part of their continued support of the club and is always a highlight of night matches.
The Telford Ice Rink is open seven days a week and offers family skating sessions, Skate4Life lessons, disco sessions as well as the excitement of hosting ice hockey matches.
