As the beautiful late spring weather approaches, we crave one thing: road trips! Whether it’s long or short trips, there’s nothing like stowing the car away for a few days and setting off for a total change of scenery. Time spent with your loved ones seems easier to find when you are away from the daily distractions and responsibilities of daily living at home. Here are some places that are suitable for beautiful scenery, fun activities, and lots of new restaurants and places to explore.
It might seem a little silly to travel to a destination within an hour of home, but with time and money increasingly scarce these days, places close to home are more appealing than ever. . In less than an hour, you too will be able to lounge on the deck of your chic boutique hotel, feeling miles away from the monotony of everyday life. Turn on the office early and forgo the Friday night traffic as you stroll to dinner at COMO at Carillion Point. Wake up early the next day and cruise along the water’s edge in an electric duffy boat while admiring the breathtaking homes and personal seaplanes along Yarrow Point. Pass under Bridge 520 for a new perspective and a fun photoshoot. Order ahead and make up the most appetizing picnic in DERU Market, served with roast chicken sandwiches on fresh focaccia, fresh herb fries and a piece of chocolate cake with salted peanut butter frosting. Camp for the day at Waverly Park and soak up the sun, people-watching, and if you’re feeling brave, take a dip in the cold water. As a Seattleite, I often find myself on the shores of Puget Sound, so hanging out along Lake Washington offers a whole new perspective.
